The pelican is around 14 o'clock
But holiday is crowded. so you might walk about 10 minutes place
It seems that a Kirin male was born on April 19th.
I went to the middle of last month around 10 o'clock, it was a rag.
A raccoon dog, right? I didn't even see when we went.
there is no male african elephant in the zoo. they are all females.
I did not see it when we went 💦
I see ~ ((≦)) There is an African area.
I am relieved and I think that you should contact the public health center
I admit my son and I couldn't finish exploring the zoo in just a few hours. But it was a great experience, a petting zoo for that matter and great in all aspects.
I love this zoo it's very big and funMy advice to anyone who wants to visit itWear the most comfy shoe you have 😂❤️
Family friendly place well labled signs for easy navigation ....there also was a bus to help us move faster to the top (very convenient)....however you need to get there early to finish the many sanctuaries that are there they close at 4:30pm for 5...food stalls are well located and sitting areas are always available good service from the entrance to the exit
Great Zoo. You can see how all the animals are well treated and healthy. You can spend the whole day walking around and might no even see it all. Facilities are clean and there are plenty of picnic spaces to eat your bentoo. There are also some decent restaurants and beverage automatic machines as well. Is easy to reach either by train or monorail. There are lots of parking space around the zoo too (in case you prefer, like me, commuting by car)
It’s a huge zoo so prepare to walk a lot. They offer free entrance during Golden Week(Children’s day). I can suggest not to visit during lunch time because most of the animals are resting or sleeping. It’s also very easy to reach, a few minutes walk from Tama Monorail or Keio-dobutsuen line.
What might be even more spectacular than the animals here was the landscaping! Even for Japanese standards the layout of the zoo and integration of the animal enclosures throughout the, mountains? Hills?, was exemplary.
Ok zoo. Some parts closed due to maintenance. Cafe's could be better.
One of the best or may be the best Zoo in Tokyo. Wide area and animals have more place to stay like natural. As it's little far from main Tokyo, less crowded. It's doesn't have a Panda like Uneo zoo, but much better. A recommended place for family with kids.
Expansive zoo with a variety of animals. Be prepared to walk around hills to experience the entire park. There’s a lot of construction happening when we went to expand the elephant exhibit and many other areas. It was a wonderful experience. They have Tasmanian devils here!!! The giraffes are a must see as there’s many to see. The cafe is excellent quality food.
Wasn't crowded at all. Most of the animals were closed off an hour before close, so make sure to give yourself enough time.
Lots of great animals and exhibits. Very reasonably priced. My daughters and I enjoyed our day. It's beautiful.
Great place to visit for kids. Just next to the train station. Parking options are available in the area. parking prices change with proximity. You can rent a babycar for 500yen in the zoo. They also have a shuttle bus service within the zoo but get ready for hills and a whole day of walking around. Food is available in the Zoo.
A fun way to spend the day at a very well maintained and open feeling zoo. Easily accesible makes this a must stop and visit destination too.
Very nice place!!!
Ticket fee is cheap. The zoo is spacious. Good for family. Restaurant is not bad but had to queue for 30+m to get served when crowded.
It's a normal Japanese zoo. Nothing special, but we could enjoyed the time.
Many rare animals are to be found here however not all animals are provided adequate space and play. Elephants and many other large animals seemed very lonely and lions seemed to be under fed. Overall a good experience but they many cages and shelters could use work with space and companionship.
Nice zoo for a romantic autumn stroll. You can even touch stick bugs (be nice to them) in the insectarium
Much more expansive than Ueno Zoo, but I don't feel like it utilizes the space that well. The animal enclosures are still kind of small and don't match the "natural" feeling of the surrounding park. But you'll get your ten thousand steps for the day!
A much better zoo than Ueno Zoo, where enclosures are too small. A lot open space for many animals. But enclosure still on the small for some animals such as Tigers, Kangaroo, Black bears, Rhinos, Snow Leopard despite having plenty unused spaces. Some animals are also appear to be longly since there are too few of them: elephanes, tigers, for example. Easy access with train. You also get to see some more rare animals such as Red Panda, Snow Leopard. Expect a lot effort walking since Zoo is built around a hill. A lot walking up and down.
Visit to see animals you haven’t seen before. Three major areas covered— Asia, Africa, and Australia. Will take the whole day in order to see everything that can be seen. There’s also an insectarium. Zoo is really big. Prepare to walk a lot although going back to the main gate, you can ride a bus for free from the west area. Worth going to.
Very familiar, long walks in the mountain while looking allcthe animals. Need to be used to walk but can also use small buses inside the park. The shop has many souvenirs and the zoo is plenty of clean toilets. Great for whole day, but I use to go for half day because the kids are small.
Insect and butterfly houses are very interesting. Overall the park is spacious and the habitats for the animals are much more spacious than the zoo in 上野. Looking forward to the new lion house after the renovation. Travel by JR would be better than driving as the road on the hill is narrow and full of traffic in weekends
I loved this zoo very good for most of the exhibits.Large and relatively well kept.I would say it could use some new exhibits.
Unintended but worthwhile visit. I was doing the anime tourism event which will give me 2 points for visiting. Need full day as a lot of walking required. Shuttle bus available for those who doesnt want to walk.
Major construction for new exhibit to be opened in Dec. Some parts outdated but most importantly, all the animals looked healthy and well cared for. Will go back again!
Always Clean! The animals in the park are comfortable, free and spacious! favorite zoo in Tokyo
As the name shows, this is not just a regular type of zoo, but it is a park where you can see a lot of animals in sections located on a hill. This zoological park is also famous for its display of reindeer and Tasmanian devil. As you enter the park, you will find a long slope to clime up the hill. You will be meeting with many animals and birds on the way. You can enjoy walking and watching animals for a whole day. It is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Worth a visit, zoo set on a beautiful hill full of nature. Be ready to do some walking. The Africa section was under construction when we were there (May 2019), so some of the enclosures were too small and some animals looking a bit sad/bored. Once construction is finished should be much better.Very cheap entry, only ¥600 for adults, free for kids under 12. ¥500 parking up the road. Week days are quiet. A few food options scattered over the area.
Enjoyed this zoo quite a bit. Built on a series of hills, so lots of walking up and down, but the enclosures are very nice for the animals. They also have a bus that is for free that stops at 5 or 6 destinations inside the park so that you don't have to walk up or down the hills.
Great zoological park. I especially liked the indoor garden with more than 1500 butterflies! They also have a free shuttle service which is very helpful as the zoo is pretty big. Be aware that some animals cannot be viewed until the closing time so ask at the information booth first if you want to see certain animals.Note: Right now the zoo is under construction meaning the lions cannot be seen during this time.
Huge!!! Really spacious and animals looked like they had plenty of room. Except the rhinos which were pacing back and forth. Great zoo!
I went here for a night walk of the zoo. They had a lot of animals I didn't recognize, which was nice, but I felt that the majority of the cages were way too small.
This zoo is a good example. You can see that all animals have enough space and are well treated. Coming here with children will not make you guilty in the face of nature and will not show a bad example to your kids. The zoo is huge and all spaces for animals are created with an idea of their natural environment. The place is green, and is pleasant to spend time in.
Make time to stop at the butterfly house. It's magical! Be prepared to walk up and down hills, but the climb is worth it for the refreshing nature and variety of animals. The season pass is a great deal of you live in the area. There are many picnic areas of you want to pack a lunch.
I went here because Ueno Zoo was just too much of a tourist attraction. I wanted to get a more natural feel and atmosphere of a Japanese zoo. This zoo is absolutely beautiful, large and spacious, clean and organized. A good amount of animals to look at and they have good space to roam around. I recommend this zoo over any other one.Don't expect food or anything to be worth it, as with any tourist area. Bring your own lunch and tons of water. As this zoo is on a hill. I walked about over 12km altogether to enjoy the entire zoo. The butterfly house is the most beautiful spot in my opinion. Also, after the zoo, you can go to the nearby areas by train, so many shops to see and food to eat.
I love this big zoo. There are variety of animal you can see. Please wear comfortable shoes.
Reasonably close the animals. Good for photography with a 70-200mm.
Very easy to move entire park, cleanliness is awesome, good manners
Clean Zoo with tons of exhibits, we've been maybe 5 times now and it's always an awesome time. Big enough to make a full day trip also.
The insect dome itself worth the whole trip!
Absolutely loved the zoo. Parking directly outside was quite expensive about 800¥ but down the street to the right of the fork was a large parking lot for 500¥. The train may be a better bet. So much to see, and it all looks to be well maintained. There is a free shuttle that runs a lap of the zoo in case you're tired of walking. Be sure to pick up a sun umbrella at the entrance since walking the hills in the sun will tire you out. We really enjoyed it and will be visiting again.
Zoo is a good place to discover animal word but somehow I still feel sorry for them could not to live in their natural home. This zoo is on a high place (like a hill or mointain?) So you should go there early in the morning because of the heat, you'll easily feel tired from hiking, and from wearing mask during summer and Corona.
Very Very beutiful, need full day to finish it
Beautiful big zoo in the middle of nature. You can spend the whole day walking about. Lots of rest areas also, with toilets. What is easy when you have kids. We bought some nice bread from the bakery next to the zoo for lunch. Just because the price/quality of food in most parks is not great.
Large zoo with lot of Animals. Takes a lot of time to cover up the whole area
Spacious habitats and healthy-looking animals. This is one the very few places in Japan where I didn't feel sorry for the animals. All of them seemed very happy and relaxed. The zoo itself is huge and nice. One of the parrots speaks Italian (??). Just try talking to him if you don't believe me.The pet zoo is also nice.Downside: the cafe has a restricted selection and the food is below average.
We visited the African jone. This place has all types of wild animals such as cheetah, elephant, lion, Giraffe, etc..They maintain so well such in a way that you would feel like you are in a real forest. Nice restaurant is there. The cost for an adult was 600 yen which I would say it's a perfect price. Very well maintained toiletries are there. People can use wheeler strollers everywhere. We totally enjoyed!
The park is a large zoo that climbs up and down the asphalt road. The distance between animals is long, but you can enjoy it.
